You are quite right ! It could cost you a fortune...
How about fixing it yourself? You'll see, it's easy.
The trick is to use hot water. Watch:
1. Boil a pot of water.
2. Gently pour the hot water over the sunken bumper.
3. Start pouring the water again on the sunken part.
4. When the bumper is warm enough, push it from the inside to return it to its original shape.
There you go, you fixed your sunken bumper :-)
It's just a bad memory.

- this trick only works on plastic bumpers
- first test on a small part of the bumper to see if it does not damage the paint.
