I know, it's tempting to go straight to Free Mobile, but my little finger tells me that it would be better to wait a little. Here's why.
Since Free announced the release of its €19.99 unlimited plan , the small mobile world is in turmoil and customers flock to the new operator's site to change plans. Good idea? Not so sure...
New competitor offers
As of yesterday, Free's main competitors announced huge price cuts on their so-called “social” packages. Sometimes very tempting offers.
For example the new Sosh package from Orange will go from €19.90 to €9.90 . This offer includes 2 hours of calls and unlimited SMS, which is the type of package that the majority of French people use. Interesting, right?
In addition, if we add 1GB of Internet, the package will only cost €14.90 instead of €22.90.
As for the other operators, they too have announced the launch of all new offers at discounted prices. I can't wait to see this!
In any case, when you see the price that the cancellation of a subscription can cost, you wonder if it wouldn't simply be better to stay with your operator while waiting for your package to drop in price , right?
A few hiccups at Free Mobile...
Admittedly, the new Free offers are attractive, but they present several problems that the Rue89 site has taken care of reporting:
- higher cost of phones than competitors
- on the €2 package (1 hour call and 60 texts) overtime is €3 . Better to avoid calling too much, otherwise hello the bill!
- no intermediate plan at €9.99, like the Orange Sosh for example. Free only offers the two extremes:either you phone excessively for €19.99, or you avoid using your cell phone as much as possible with the €2 package.
As Rue89 points out, the majority of consumers do not use more than 3 hours of calls per month and therefore do not need an unlimited plan. Sobering, don't you think?
Do not hesitate to put pressure on your operator
It was our beloved reader Anne-Marie who reminded us of the trick:you can get very good discounts on your current plan by threatening to cancel , plain and simple.
Since Free launched its offer, operators have been ready to do anything and everything to keep their customers, even cut their packages by 50%.
So don't hesitate:fill out a cancellation form on your operator's website and you will see the result:in two or three days you will receive a call from the operator offering you discounts. Easy as pie.
So, now it's up to you to make a decision. Do you plan to stay with your operator or change immediately? I await your impressions in the comments.
