I don't know how you work, but I am not the type to wait until the morning of the 24th to do the shopping for my Christmas meal.
Everything will be in my fridge the day before or the day before.
I even started buying some things a few days ago.
By anticipating the food shopping I would have to do for the end-of-year meals, I save real money!
Do not panic ! I'm not talking about the turkey, the vegetables or the pastry log...
On the other hand, the jars of chestnuts are already lined up on the shelves of my pantry, alongside the preserves cardoon, blocks of marzipan (to make delicious disguised fruits) and chocolates of Christmas.
Why ? Quite simply because the closer we get to the holiday season, the more the stores will enjoy to drive prices up.
A concrete example:when I bought my peeled chestnuts to serve as an accompaniment to the Christmas turkey, I paid €3.95 for the jar. It is now at €4.42 and prices should continue to rise until December 24.
The brands know very well that we consume almost all the same traditional products for the end of year celebrations and they take advantage of this to make a large profit on our backs.
Anything canned, jarred or frozen is already safe in my kitchen , and I knew how to take advantage of the best promotions to buy them.
By doing this, I avoid receipts that go up in flames at the last minute.
Last year, I did the math:I managed to save more than €30 on the three meals (Christmas Eve, New Year's Eve and New Year's Eve) that I had organized at home.
Pretty good, right?
